And in training alone you are pretty much guaranteed to get wounded!

I knew a girl here at school who is in the ROTC thing, and she was scaling a wall on the obstacle course, slipped (since it was in the rain) and broke her collar bone. The rest of her team got a crash course in taking care of a wounded soldier.

I'm always embarrassed if I hurt myself, especially is someone sees me do it, just how I am I guess. Once as a deli clerk I had this cup holder thing (heavy plastic thing) fall on my foot right as I was asking a customer what they wanted, it went "Hi may I..." thing drops on foot, I bite my lip, hop on one foot in a circle, finish the circle, "help you." She could hear the crash as did my coworker, they just stared at me for a few seconds as I pretended it never happened. As if I was going to cry or scream or something, yeah right!

The other day I was at Wal-Mart with my roomie, who was buying a pack of clothes hangers. I grabbed another pair for her and I wacked myself in the eye in front of two Wal-Mart employees. They looked really shocked and scared at first, but then I burst out laughing and they hesitantly began to laugh too. YOu know, that nervous "should I really be laughing?" sort of giggle.
