How about making these? A friend and I also thought it would be fun to make mini microbes--little versions to hang on backpacks or use as keychains.

They already made whooping cough aka Bordetella pertussis, it is called "Cough". Bordetella pertussis causes a severe illness in children but in adults it generally is just a persistent cough and resolves itself, thankfully there is a vaccination for it, that is the P in the DPT shot. There is even a new vaccine out for it that is approved for adults to have since the older version only was approved for children up to 7 year old and the immunity only lasts about 10 years or so, when most people don't have to worry about getting too sick from the organism but the concern was for at risk individuals (unimmunized children/babies, elderly, AIDS patients, etc).
