Sort of along the same lines as giving them names, but not...
Do you refer to your microbes in gendered terms? Or are they all asexual? Mono is definitely a girl to me, and stomach ache is a boy, as are flu, and athelete's foot. HIV is really asexual to me, but sometimes I refer to is as a 'she'. |

I don't put that much thought into it, guess I think of them as objects without gender though, some look feminine but they are still inanimate...
